Group Pestana will be opening a new hotel in Amsterdam. With this new unit the largest Portuguese hotel group reinforces its presence in another European capital, besides Lisbon,
Barcelona, London and Berlin and consolidates its international footprint with 16 countries in its portfolio.
The future Pestana Amsterdam will be located in one of the city’s most noble areas over its main canal and the mythic Amstel Hotel. Less than 1km away from Amsterdam’s famous museums and Congress Center, it will have easy access to its historical center and its exciting night life. According to schedule, the new unit will be available in the beginning of 2016.
Located in Amsteldijk, very near to the city’s center, the new five star hotel will be the result of a bold mix between an impressive ancient building and two modern wings. The project was designed by renowned a team of Dutch architects and represents another major step in recovery of heritage sites that Group Pestana has been implementing for more than 10 years. The leading Dutch interior designers have been invited to present proposals for the five star property.
The new hotel is perfect for both leisure and business. It will feature 157 rooms, including 32 flats, various meeting and venue halls, restaurant, bar, winter garden terrace in the historic patio, spa with indoor pool and gym.
“With this new hotel the Group Pestana strengthens its presence in the European capitals and cities, marking another milestone for us. Amsterdam is one of the most popular destinations in the world for business and leisure and has the 4th best performance in Europe, whilst ranking 8th as far as hotel actives valuation is concerned and is part of the top 10 of ICCA’s events and congresses rating. Last but not least this investment couldn’t have happened at a better timing since the city’s Town Hall has recently limited the amount of hotels offer in the capital in order to avoid future excess.” - says José Roquette, Board Member, Head of Development for Group Pestana.
The International growth in Europe and South America has been the Group’s goal in the last 15 years, strengthening a consistent strategy of regional diversification and promoting the Pestana brand’s rising awareness in the main hotel markets in the world.
Amsterdam becomes the 5th European city/capital in the Group’s portfolio, besides Lisbon, Barcelona, London and Berlin. Outside Europe, the largest Portuguese hotel group is present in the USA, Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, Venezuela, Cuba, Mozambique, South Africa, Morocco, Cape Verde and São Tomé and Príncipe.
