Rio is served by two airports: the Rio de Janeiro International Airport António Carlos Jobim (do Galeão) is 20km from the city centre and flights from Brazil's main cities and overseas land here. The Santos Dumont Airport, close to the centre, operates only for domestic flights.

There are many bus routes operating from Rio. These depart from the Rio Bus Station (Rio Rodoviária)
