Over the past three decades, we have made structured and sustained investment in the hotel and tourism sector. During the past 35 years, we have witnessed the birth of the “Pestana Hotels & Resorts” chain and its consolidation as Portugal's principal hotel chain, which today comprises 85 operating hotels.
The results of this investment programme are clear to see. As well as 42 hotels and 43 pousadas, the Pestana Group also has 1 hotel currently under construction (London), 6 timeshare developments, 4 operating golf courses, 2 tourism property developments (and 2 under construction), a gambling concession for the island of Madeira (the Madeira Casino) and another in São Tomé and Prince, a charter airline company, 3 tour operators and 1 travel agency.
On 1st September 2003, the Pestana Group took over the management of the Portuguese Pousadas chain. It is with a great sense of responsibility that we have taken on this additional commitment to quality tourism in Portugal, assuming the leadership of what has become a Portuguese brand name, the Pousadas de Portugal.
