FAQs
Where is Miami located and why is it known?

Miami is located in southeastern Florida (USA), overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. It is known for its white sand beaches, especially South Beach (Miami Beach), and the Art Deco Historic District along Ocean Drive and Collins Avenue, with hundreds of buildings from the 1930s. It is also distinguished by its strong Latin and Caribbean culture (Little Havana), its cosmopolitan nightlife, and its warm climate almost all year round, making it a beach destination in any season.

Which Pestana hotels are there in Miami?

Yes. The Pestana Group operates the Pestana South Beach Miami (also known as the Pestana South Beach Art Deco Hotel), a 4-star boutique hotel in the heart of South Beach, Miami Beach (1817 James Avenue, FL 33139), one block from Collins Avenue. It occupies four Art Deco-inspired buildings (white and blue facades), with an outdoor pool in a central courtyard with a bar and restaurant, a few minutes' walk from the beach and Lincoln Road. What is the best time to visit Miami?

The best time is between November and April, during the dry season, with milder weather, less humidity and less rain, ideal for the beach and sightseeing. Summer (June to September) is hot and very humid, with thunderstorms in the late afternoon, coinciding with the Atlantic hurricane season (officially from June 1st to November 30th, with the highest risk between August and October). Spring and autumn offer good weather with fewer crowds than the peak of winter.

How do I get to Miami?

The gateway is Miami International Airport (MIA), about 13 km west of downtown, one of the largest hubs in the US, with direct connections to Europe. From the airport, you can reach downtown and Miami Beach by taxi, transfer, ride-sharing apps, or by Metrorail (Orange line, with a station at the airport) and the Metrobus network. There is also Fort Lauderdale Airport (FLL) to the north, and Brightline and Amtrak trains in the metropolitan area.

What to visit in Miami?

South Beach and the Art Deco Historic District, with the colorful buildings of Ocean Drive and Collins Avenue, are unmissable. It's worth exploring Little Havana (the Cuban heart, with Calle Ocho), Wynwood and the famous Wynwood Walls of urban art, and taking an excursion to the Everglades (airboat tours and wildlife). Other points of interest: Coconut Grove, the Vizcaya Museum & Gardens, and the Lincoln Road shopping area.

How do I get around in Miami?

A car is useful for exploring the area, although parking in South Beach can be expensive and limited. The Metromover (automated elevated train) runs for free in Downtown; there's also the Metrorail and Metrobus network for longer distances. Ride-sharing apps (Uber/Lyft) and taxis are convenient, especially between the airport, downtown, and Miami Beach. In South Beach, many attractions are within walking distance.
