Italy is a boot-shaped country in southern Europe, bordering France, Switzerland, Austria, and Slovenia to the north. It is known for its artistic and historical heritage – Rome (Colosseum and Vatican), Florence (birthplace of the Renaissance), and Venice (city of canals). To the north, in the Alps, lies the Valle d'Aosta, next to Mont Blanc, where the Pestana Le Massif Courmayeur, the group's first hotel in Italy, is located. The country also combines a Mediterranean coastline, Alpine lakes, and world-renowned gastronomy.
The Pestana Group operates the Pestana Le Massif Courmayeur in Italy, located in the Courmayeur resort in the Valle d'Aosta, at the foot of Mont Blanc – the first Pestana hotel in Italy, part of the Pestana Collection luxury brand (it will be managed by Pestana on June 5, 2026). Situated at an altitude of 1,224 metres, it features 80 rooms and suites, a wellness and fitness ecosystem, and is part of The Leading Hotels of the World. The hotel is around a 5-minute walk from the cable car that provides access to the slopes.
It depends on the destination. For the art cities (Rome, Florence, Venice), spring (April to June) and autumn (September to October) offer mild temperatures and fewer crowds, avoiding the humid summer heat. Winter is the peak season in the Alps: in the Aosta Valley, the ski season typically runs from December to April, making it ideal for Courmayeur, home to Pestana Le Massif Courmayeur, with the cable car to the Plan Checrouit slopes located around a 5-minute walk from the hotel. The Alpine summer is excellent for hiking.
Italy has several international airports. For Rome and the center: Rome-Fiumicino (FCO); for Milan and the north: Milan-Malpensa (MXP); for Venice and the northeast: Venice-Marco Polo (VCE). For the Alps and the Valle d'Aosta – where the Pestana Le Massif Courmayeur is located – the most convenient airport is Turin-Caselle (TRN), followed by car or transfer; Milan-Malpensa and Geneva are alternatives for accessing the Mont Blanc area. The rail network and highways connect these airports.
Rome (Colosseum, Roman Forum and Vatican); Florence, capital of Tuscany and the Renaissance (Duomo, Uffizi Gallery, Michelangelo's David); and Venice (canals, St. Mark's Square, gondolas). To the north, the Alps of Valle d'Aosta, dominated by Mont Blanc, with skiing and hiking from Courmayeur, where the Pestana Le Massif Courmayeur is located, with direct access to the slopes and the La Loge du Massif cabin, in Plan Checrouit, accessible by cable car.
Between the main cities, the fastest way is by high-speed train, with the Frecciarossa (Trenitalia) and Italo networks connecting Rome, Florence, Venice, and Milan in a few hours from the center of each city. In the cities, metro, buses, and trams cover the tourist areas well (in Venice, vaporettos on the canals). For the mountains – the Valle d'Aosta and Courmayeur, next to the Pestana Le Massif Courmayeur – the car is the most flexible.
