The Christmas markets (Weihnachtsmarkt) generally take place from the second half of November until Christmas. In Berlin, the Gendarmenmarkt and the Charlottenburg Palace market stand out; the Christkindlesmarkt in Nuremberg, active since the 16th century, is the most famous in the country.
