Madrid is the capital of Spain, in the geographical center of the country, on the Castilian plateau at an altitude of approximately 650 meters. July and August are very hot (highs close to 40 °C), so it is recommended to stroll around in the morning and take refuge in the museums in the middle of the day. However, Madrid is worth visiting all year round.
The gateway is Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport (MAD), the largest in Spain, about 12 km from the city center. The metro connects via Line 8 (Aeropuerto T1-T2-T3 and T4 stations, ending at Nuevos Ministerios), with a transfer to the city center in approximately 25-30 minutes. Alternatively, the Cercanías train (C-1) connects T4 to Atocha and Chamartín in approximately 25-30 minutes. There is also the Airport Express, taxis, and transfers. The metro easily reaches the vicinity of the Pestana hotels.

Madrid's metro is extensive, modern, and efficient, making it the most practical way to get around the city, complemented by buses and Cercanías (local bus rapid transit).
