Where to stay in Venezuela
Venezuela is located in northern South America, with an extensive Caribbean coastline and borders with Colombia, Brazil, and Guyana. It is known for its natural diversity: Angel Falls (the world's highest uninterrupted waterfall, approximately 979 m) in Canaima National Park (a World Heritage Site), the tepuis of Gran Sabana, the Andes Mountains (Mérida), and archipelagos such as Los Roques. The capital, Caracas, where the Pestana Caracas hotel is located, is framed by the El Ávila mountain range.
The Pestana Group is present with the 4-star Pestana Caracas (Premium City & Conference Hotel), located in the Santa Eduvigis urbanization in Caracas, near the financial district and Parque del Este. It features a rooftop pool overlooking the Ávila River, a sauna and jacuzzi, a gym, bars (including the Ávila Lounge on the 18th floor), the Ribeira Brava restaurant, and six meeting rooms.
Venezuela has a tropical climate. The dry season (December to April) is the most popular for beaches and outdoor activities; the rainy season (May to November) brings lush landscapes and increases the flow of waterfalls, with Angel Falls being the most impressive. In Caracas, the altitude (approximately 900 m) softens the heat. It is always recommended to confirm official travel recommendations.
The gateway is the Maiquetía International Airport "Simón Bolívar" (CCS), in La Guaira, about 21 km northwest of Caracas. From the airport to Santa Eduvigis (Pestana Caracas) access is by road through the El Ávila mountain range. As this is a destination with travel advisories, it is essential to check official recommendations beforehand and prioritize pre-booked transfers.
Highlights include Angel Falls and Canaima National Park (Gran Sabana, with tepuis); the Los Roques archipelago; the Andean city of Mérida; and Margarita Island. In Caracas, from the Pestana Caracas hotel, visit El Ávila National Park (Waraira Repano), Galipán, Plaza Francia in Altamira, and the Museum of Contemporary Art. It is advisable to plan with trusted tour operators and consult official recommendations.
Given the distances, domestic flights are often the most practical way to connect Caracas to Canaima, Margarita, or Mérida. In Caracas, from Pestana Caracas, local transfers and pre-booked services are recommended. Travel to remote areas (Canaima) is done on organized tours (small planes and boats). It is advisable to follow official safety recommendations.
