The imposing Hazzan II Mosque is the tallest mosque in the world. Opened in 1993, it is equipped with the most sophisticated technologies for seismic resistance, underfloor heating, electric doors and a retractable roof. Designed by French architect Michel Pinseau, it can be visited by non-Muslims.
Running along the Casablanca waterfront, La Corniche provides picnic areas, plenty of restaurants, ice cream parlours, exotic clubs and hotels, children’s playgrounds, clubs and cinemas. You can go for a stroll or run and enjoy panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean.
The oldest area in the city is a hectic grand bazaar where people haggle over products such as leather crafts, jewels, carpets, scents or spices. In its maze of alleys, there are cafés and restaurants for you to regain your energy.
A magnificent example of Islamic architecture, the Palace is set amidst orange trees and water features. As a royal residence, it is generally closed to visitors. However the magnificence of the place and the detailed work on the doors can be admired from the outside.
